Get the full story by joining other opera-goers at our complimentary pre-opera talks in the Grand Hall of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. You will have the opportunity to listen to UCLA's Dr. Mitchell Morris, associate professor of musicology, present an entertaining and informative talk on the opera you are about to see.

Generously sponsored by The Flora L. Thornton Foundation and The Opera League of Los Angeles, the talks are free of charge to those attending the performance. Talks are scheduled one hour prior to each performance. Reservations are not required.

If you are unable to make it to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in time to attend a pre-performance talk, you can also listen to the program from your phone*. Each talk is accessible via the following phone number and code:

Phone number: 1-218-936-4700
Access code: 314902#

*Please note: This number is not toll free, so the cost will depend on rates charged by your long distance carrier (Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, etc.) to area code 218, Minnesota. There are no additional fees. We do not require the use of any specific carrier, nor do we know what rates patrons pay on their calling plans. This service accommodates the first 150 callers-if we miss you, don't worry-you can also catch the pre-opera talk here on the LA Opera website as a podcast recording.
