(Available for Salary Point Credit) LA Opera's award-winning Opera for Educators series explores opera from an interdisciplinary point of view. Gain insight about opera and the historical context in which it was created. Discuss opera as history and art, as well as language and social commentary. Learn all about the stars and artists of the opera world, as well as the production and business of opera. Enjoy recitals and rehearsals, and receive special opera news updates. Up to three LAUSD salary points or equivalent UCLA Extension credits are offered for participating teachers.

Dates: All sessions take place on Saturdays from 9:00am to 5:00pm downtown at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

Fee:
$20 per session
Salary Points: Attend two classes and two operas or attend two classes and complete homework assignments for one salary point. Three salary points available for this program. Additional fees apply for UCLA Extension Credit. Enrollment in programs does not include admission to main stage opera productions.
Parking: We are not able to guarantee free parking for the series at this time. Everyone who purchases the full series before August 27 will be entered into a drawing. The winner will receive complimentary parking for the series. Parking at the Music Center is $9 per session.

Registration is primarily for actively employed teachers. Registration for retired teachers will be limited to 10% of the total enrollment. Opera 101 is not a pre-requisite for this course.
