On Saturday, April 17, LA Opera Speakers Bureau member Anne Russell Sullivan will present a talk on Franz Schreker's The Stigmatized at the Oxnard Public Library. Reservations not required.


LA Opera's Library Project presents more than 90 free opera talks each season in libraries all over the Los Angeles region.  These insightful talks, given by memebrs of La Opera's Speakers Bureau, address history, literature, philosphy and fine arts within the context of opera.


The Speakers Bureau is LA Opera's volunteer team of trained experts who address civic and social organizations, philanthropic groups, schools and library audiences throughout southern California, free of charge.  For more information about the Speakers Bureau, email

On Saturday, April 17, LA Opera will present its German Opera Tales series at Rowland Heights Library.

Opera always begins with a story. Opera Tales, celebrates the power of story and the joy of music. Working in partnership with the County of Los Angeles Public Library, LA Opera has developed this fun, high energy show that tours to various libraries for free family performances.  German Opera Tales features five professional opera singer and a pianist as the “opera pals” who perform musical moments from such German opera stories as Wagner's Das Rheingold, Mozart's Abduction from the Seraglio, and Humperdinck's Hansel und Gretel in celebration of LA Opera’s Ring cycle and the Ring Festival LA.
