Opera for Educators - L'Allegro 

LA Opera's award-winning Opera for Educators series explores opera from an interdisciplinary point of view.  Gain insight about opera and the historical context in which it was created. Discuss opera as history and art, as well as language and social commentary. Learn all about the stars and artists of the opera world, as well as the production and business of opera. Enjoy recitals and rehearsals, and receive special opera news updates. Up to three LAUSD salary points or equivalent UCLA Extension credits are offered for participating teachers.

LA Opera Camp presents Brundibár

LA Opera offers an in-depth youth Opera Camp for ages 9-17. This unique program has a playful, yet intense focus, offering individual attention and peer collaboration that culminates in community performances. The camp runs for two full weeks beginning August 1, 2011 from 9:00am - 4:00pm. Public performances will be held during the weekend of August 14 and 15, 2011.

 LA Opera presents “25 Recitals for 25 Seasons: LA Opera’s Young Artist Celebration,” a series of community recitals featuring members of the Company’s Domingo-Thornton Young Artist Program that will take place from April 3 through May 15, 2011.  These recitals will not only honor LA Opera’s 25th Anniversary Season, they are also intended to serve as a musical “thank you” to the many community members and institutions with whom the company has worked during the quarter-century since LA Opera’s inaugural production in 1986.” In partnership with the hosting venues, which include museums, libraries, schools, hospitals and concert halls, most recitals will be offered to the public free of charge.
